Amy McCoy is a self-taught photographer who has been working in Polaroid Transfer since 2000 when she was introduced to the process during a papermaking workshop at Seastone Papers on Martha's Vineyard.
A graduate of Syracuse University, Amy is also a broadcast producer, whose clients include A&E, The CBS Evening News, ESPN, and The History Channel. While working as a producer, Amy has fueled her creativity in continuing education classes at Rhode Island School of Design and Massachusetts College of Art.
A passion for travel and a desire to see her grandmother's homeland led Amy to visit Italy for the first time in 2001, a trip which has spawned many repeat visits. Amy is enchanted with the dramatic and diverse landscapes, the friendliness of the people she has met there, and, of course, the food!
Amy also enjoys traveling and shooting elsewhere, including France and the UK, as well as her beloved Block Island and other spots on the New England coastline.
Amy's travel partner and photo assistant is her husband, JR, whose name will become very familiar as you peruse the website as he is mentioned in nearly every image's description!
Amy has shown her work at various galleries, including Frog Hollow, The Vermont State Craft Center's Italian Connections, a national juried show; Wilson-Scott Galleries in Wickford, Rhode Island; the South End Open Market and Holiday Market in Boston; and is a participating artist at CharityGallery.com, a collaborative that donates 25% of the purchase price of artwork to the charity of the patron's choice. Amy has also launched a charitable giving program with Friends of Festival in Terra di Siena, an arts and music program held at La Foce, in Tuscany, Italy, where Amy and JR were married in 2003.
Amy and JR live in Rehoboth, Massachusetts on a circa 1850 gentleman's farm with their dog Miele, barn cat Pretty, and 30,000 (give or take a few!) honey bees. Amy's studio in the barn is quite a bit cleaner now than it was when it housed JR's herd of seven Black Angus!
